Servicing Local Network Infrastructure
OpenZen comes out of AirZen Networks, which is helping businesses of many sizes with the operation of their networks (WiFi as a Service). We believe that this space is in desperate need of more open solutions. We also believe, that customers need to have access to the source code of internet-connected routers. Loads of products use closed hardware and closed management solutions. There are efforts for standardization but we believe a lot can be done in order to make them more accessible.
Those who want to operate their (or their customers') devices themselves e.g. businesses, tinkerers, or service providers - we believe that all can benefit from a standard interface and independence of vendors. Many service providers invent their own solutions for working with Openwrt, re-implementing what we consider to be "the basics". By providing "the basics" through a higher-level abstraction and making them a shared effort, we hope to improve overall service quality and have more time for more important issues.
